Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistan's leader Pervez Musharraf are pledging to increase their intelligence-sharing in their struggle with terrorism and extremism.
The two met in Islamabad Wednesday.
Afterwards, Mr. Karzai said militant attacks along the Pakistan border have decreased recently, but he said the struggle against militants is destroying both countries.
President Musharraf said the two countries must work together against militant groups and extremists.
In the past, both leaders have accused the other of not doing enough to fight terrorism. Afghan officials say Taliban militants use bases inside Pakistan to launch cross-border attacks on Afghan and NATO troops. Pakistani officials have denied those charges but acknowledged that militants operate in the country's tribal areas that are outside central government control.
