Three Ukrainian political parties that led the country's "Orange Revolution" in 2004 have reached an agreement to form a coalition government.
A negotiator for President Viktor Yushchenko announced the deal Wednesday. It ends three months of political uncertainty following parliamentary elections in March. The agreement reunites Mr. Yushchenko's Our Ukraine party with a bloc led by former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the Socialist party.
Sources say Ms. Tymoshenko will regain her former post, while Our Ukraine will get the parliamentary speaker's job, and the Socialists will get the vice-speaker's post.
The pro-Western parties combined have more seats than the pro-Russian Party of the Regions, which won the largest number of seats of any single party.
Mr. Yushchenko began negotiations last week with the party's leader, former prime minister Viktor Yanukovich, to form a coalition government.
Mr. Yanukovich was originally declared the winner of Ukraine's 2004 presidential election. But the mass protests of the so-called Orange Revolution led to the results being overturned and Mr. Yushchenko sweeping to power in new elections.
