Currently regarded as one of the most prominent festivals of its kind, each year sees a variety of films screened around Florence, which focus on people from across the globe. Audiences are invited to view the documentaries, as well as participate in discussions with professionals in the field.

Winter in Florence is another experience not to be missed. Lasting for four months, the city is host to a range of events, shows, concerts and exhibitions, which aim to show off all Florence has to offer. Currently in its fifth year, it runs from November to February.

One of the biggest attractions of Winter in Florence is the German Christmas Market, located in the Piazza Santa Croce. Open for a period in December, exhibitors from across Europe flock there to offer their traditional wares.

Of course, no winter trip would be complete without going to see the Christmas tree. Found in the Piazza della Republicca, it is on view from the start of December to the beginning of January and is decorated with over 15,000 lights. A perfect place to go then, for a romantic evening stroll before you return to your hotel!
