With a 7-3 record and a playoff spot looking more than likely, fans and others are wondering if the 39-year-old quarterback will be back for another season next year. Favre started out the season with a 20-14 win over the Miami Dolphins, where he had a passer rating of 125.0. The Jets tallied two losses after the initial win, leading some people to start questioning whether Favre still has what it takes to lead a team to victory. Favre silenced and naysayers with week four’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Along with going 24 of 34 for 289 yards, Favre had a career high six touchdowns, tallying a rating of 123.7. After the high, the Jets had a bye. Favre came back with a few rough matches. Even though only one of them was a loss, Favre didn’t have a passer rating of more than 76 for four games from week six to week nine. Before anyone could make any assumptions, Favre came back to go 14 of 19 for a passer rating of 117.7 against the St Louis Rams during week 10. During week 11, he was 26 of 33 for 258 yards, two touchdowns and a rating of 119.4.

Reporters started asking Favre the question that was on everyone’s mind at this point: are you going to retire after this season or return? Favre refused to give any definite answers and instead reiterated that he is having fun playing right now and is trying to lead his team to a playoff fun. He claims that he has not even told his family and friends what he is going to do simply because he hasn’t yet made a decision. Favre also told reporters that when he joined the Jets he talked to general Manager Mike Tannenbaum about his future, not making any commitments for anything beyond this year.

He will have quite a test during week 12 when he goes up against the currently undefeated Tennessee Titans. As for the rest of the season’s opponents, the Jets look as if they could be walking away with a great record as they face the Denver Broncos, the San Francisco 49ers, the Buffalo Bills, the Seattle Seahawks and the Miami Dolphins.
