I’m going to outline here, the things one should consider, and the plans one should make prior to telling your boss to shove it – because you might just have to wait for a while before the big money strikes. I’ll list them below. First you need to take out a piece of paper and a pen and decide on the structure of your business. No business was ever started and run successfully without a plan of attack – and this needs to be as explicit and clear as you can make it. Ask questions; where do I want to be in one month, three months, six months and so on; how much do I want to invest; how much do I want to make; what kind of business will I have; will I sell things, or will I get involved in investments; that kind of process. Once you have a clear plan then you can start. PRODUCT If you are going to sell things online, there are two questions you need to answer for yourself: Will I create a product or products? If you choose to be an affiliate, the best way to get started is to do some research. Clickbank is a really good organization that lists all of the products that sell the best as affiliates. Here’s what happens. You go to Clickbank, sign up, and look for stuff you’re interested in from the categories they have on display. Most of the time, you don’t even need to do that much – they assign you a website and a URL to promote then off you go. Go take a look:

RANKING Now we get to something that’s a little more in detail.. ranking in the search engines. There are literally hundreds of search engines, but the ones that everyone knows about are Google, Yahoo, MSN – they seem to be the biggies. Now you need to understand that going to your hosting company and simply throwing a website on the net is NOT running a business. This website is your baby, you’ve put an awful lot of work into it and you need to take care of it. You will not get seen if you don’t know how to get ranked. So, here’s how it works. ? People put in a phrase or word that they want to see information on – let’s say ‘fly-fishing’ ? Every website with that ‘keyword’ – a phrase is also classed as a keyword – will be displayed – this might amount to 50 million sites! ? Without careful research, your website may – if it has been indexed – be number 49,899,999 – out of that 50 million. So, 10 websites per page = tons of websites before yours! See what I mean? So you have to research the best keyword phrases to include in your ‘homepage’ – these are the ones that the indexing “crawlers” will pay attention to and that will increase your chances of a high ranking that people will see.
